Stanford Hospital Spiritual Care, Stanford, CA Clinical Pastoral Education Summer Intern 

(6/14-8/14)

  • Serve as pastoral care giver at Stanford Hospital, ministering to infirm patients 

  • Participated in group learning and reflection sessions to hone pastoral care skills

  • Served as on-call chaplain on select overnight and weekend shifts 

 

Congregation Shir Ami, Castro Valley, CA Student Rabbi (9/13-Present)

  • Served as student rabbi to 60 family congregation

  • Collaborated to create High Holy Days at the synagogue including leading services, writing and delivering sermons, planning and leading text studies and organizing children’s services

  • Led monthly Kabbalat Shabbat services for 30-100 congregants; organized, played, and taught music; wrote and delivered sermons; and organized special programming including welcoming/interfaith services and religious school services

  • Spearheaded and organized adult education experiences including in-depth text study, movie discussions, meditation, ecumenical art history lessons, and experiential lessons in Jewish history

  • Wrote essays for the RAC’s weblog about current policy issues 

  • Lobbied and networked on behalf of the RAC to make progress in forwarding their legislative agenda on issues such as rights for the disabled and access to health care.
